I went to the store to have a new chain put on my bike and the mechanic that waited on me said that the new chain that I had with me was a knock off. He asked me if I had purchased the chain on eBay and I told him that I had. He was hesitant to install the chain but I told him that I had used them before and had no problem with them. He then put my bike on the stand and told me that the front derailleur needed adjusting. I told him that another mechanic named Shane had adjusted my derailleur the last time I was in. The derailleur was fine and did not need to be adjusted. He was adamant that it did and was very persistent about it. My complaint with Ben’s bikes is that they try to look for ways to pad the bill and all I wanted was to have a chain replaced. I have dealt with Shane in the past and he is an excellent mechanic and doesn’t look for ways to pad the bill.
