The staff is nice and very helpful. The instructors take joy in being an instructor. It's such a family atmosphere. Only thing I don't like is Candence's Zumba class is now in the smaller classroom. We need to find a better solution, so many people are missing out now because the class is in a small room. I say close the gym for an hour so we can be great again. I'm coming from Fredericksburg just to do her class.
I have really been pleased training with Nancy McPherson- she does a great job listening to- modifying all while gently encouraging (pushing when needed!)
I enjoy lap swimming. However, it is frustrating that your location does not update the schedules to show closures when there is a swim meet taking place. I recently drove all the way there to swim because when I checked the schedule, it indicated that the pool was open for lap swimming. In fact, a swim meet was in progress and pools were unavailable.
Please do better.
Friendly staff.
I do wish that the Tuckahoe Y offered more Barre group exercise classes. Would love a Sat morning Barre class.
My work schedule only allows me free time for 10:30am classes.
Would love to attend a weekday 10:30am Barre class.
There are so many classes available for people of all abilities. Instructors are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. They encourage you to learn and develop your skills.
I like the variety of classes. I emphasize the aquatic programs. I often visit various branches to get fifferent classes. The instructors are superb. So professional, knowledgeable and always willing to help you. The facilities are mostly clean and a pleasure to use. And of course the wonderful friendships you make with the members,
Better accessibility for aged and/ or disabled. There should be a handicap door button at the door between the cold water pool and the hall next to the Universal locker room. A person with a cane or walker and towel, or a person holding one child in his/her arms and another by the hand cannot easily get in or out of the hall into the pool area. After the renovations were done, staff was asked about this. The answer was that it might rust. If so, that would take a long time, during which a lot of people could enjoy the Y more.
