Neil and Kelvon treat you like family. They know you are there for a color and cut, but they also are genuinely concerned about how you are doing. And we enjoy hearing how they are doing. They work with your schedule and are accommodating.The salon is a boutique, you get 1:1 attention and you do not feel rushed or like just a number. They handle your full service, so the salon is quiet and intimate. They also are very helpful when you make requests or suggestions and they explain why a certain color or cut may or may not work with your hair characteristic. They never push product upon you, but do use the products so you can see how it might work for your hair. I have been their client for 20 plus years and most of their clients are loyal customers. I recommend them to my friends and family who have had similar experiences.

Both the stylists are talented and very welcoming.It feels like a visit with family along with getting a beautiful hair style! They also keep an extensive selection of Aveda products for sale. I would give a 10+ if possible.

AKYA is by far the best hair salon in San Marcos. Their guest centered approach to their customer's needs and special requests are above and beyond what is usually expected these days and I speak from experience as I have be an extremely happy customer for more then 15 years. Becoming and staying an Aveda approved salon takes constant quality control so is a testament to the high level of expertise they AKYA provides it's clients. I really cannot recommend them enough to both men and women and I even take my extremely picky teenagers there and now they refuse to have any other stylist touch their hair & that is saying a lot for a teen girl. San Marcos is very lucky to have a hair salon of this quality in a town this size, you will be doing yourself a favor by becoming an AKYA client.

I've been coming to the salon for over 5 years. Kelvon and Neil are super welcoming and do great work. Recently I've been able to transition to a natural blended color after doing root touch up to cover gray for a long time. I love Aveda products. The music and delightful environment are very relaxing. I highly recommend AKYA.
