However, I think your systems need updating so that they have the ability to detect when a customer has used an unusually large amount of propane, allowing customer service co follow up and determine whether a customer needs additional propane before they're regularly scheduled fill-up.
Recently, the garage door of our lake home was opened for some reason and the door remained open for most of January. As a result, the heater in the garage ran until it emptied our 1,000 gallon propane tank and we got a $1,000 bill for that month when it is usually around $225. Even worse, because the tank was empty it shut off the furnaces in both of our homes and we had frozen pipes in our guest house. All-in-all, an expensive and unpleasant experience.
