I appreciate the warm welcome I receive
when I attend the Y , to use the
weight machines.
It is a diverse and interesting representation of the Asheville community .
The Y offers a positive message
of ‘ self care ‘ to all its attendees.
The Y exemplifies a no judgement
zone.
The Y is family!
I absolutely love the friendliness of the front desk staff and Becca Sacora as a yoga instructor.
Becca explains everything in detail and very clearly; she encourages participants to execute movements to the best of our ability, paying attention to our own bodies and what works and what doesn't work.
Since the Y did not take my BCBS medicare insurance, which will only pay for silver sneakers, I have had to pay for it out of pocket.. I made requests to both parties, and neither one budged. I have been a member of the Y since 2000 and paid for it all those years before medicare kicked in. So, for the past 4 years, having my BCBS insurance pay for it has been a blessing.
The programs and activities are very crowded. The Y is a business. I do not want to go to any of the gyms around here filled with young people on the prowl. So I am not happy with the Y right now. They did give me a discount, which was nice. I have not come back to exercise regularly because of the January rush. I have to motivate myself to go back, and it is hard, But, I will push through it.
I like being able to do my own exercises and swim some in the south pool. I'm there just about every day mon-fri. the 11am-2pm time period works for me. I've met some really nice people while working out and find the lifeguards to be nice and very attentive to what's going on. The pool is clean, as is the locker room and showers...and I love the warm water. It can be difficult to find a parking place sometimes. That's my only complaint.
Asheville Y has such a diverse array of exercise choices!! I especially like the Silver and Strong class. I am getting physically stronger because of this class.
Lap lanes! Clean pool with a cool feel to it by keeping the older architecture style. Two pools to accommodate different temperatures and activities. Large locker room with plenty of space.
I like the sauna at the Downtown Y. I also like the classes offered. Overall, Woodfin and Downtown, I use both of them. Only complaint is they are too crowded. Classes often book up too fast. I would still recommend the Y but it is too crowded often. Very happy the Downtown Y added Sunday morning hours. This is a huge plus.
I truly appreciate ALL the group exercise choices and the instructors. I mostly participate in the Zumba, Hip Hop and step classes. It is so much fun and I would not want to miss it!
