I love that there is a music class that introduces little ones to instruments in a forum that allows hands on, new vocabulary, and gives them introductions to things like "loud and quiet", "hard and soft", etc. Kiko (teacher) is fun and communicative for with kids and parents.
I have a developmentally delayed toddler - we showed up late - and he did not want to go in. She was thoughtful enough to try turning off the music to see if it would help coax him to join. He didn't and she tried to work with him for a few moments before we (the parents) just decided to try it again next week. Kiko was willing to go with whatever we decided. (Note to self: don't be late again.) Their front office staff caught on too and was willing to support in whatever way possible. Good people and program.
I have been with Bach to Rock for 6 years. I love how you give the kids lots of confidence by performing on stage in front of so many audience in different venues and occasions. My son is starting now to improvise and make his own music. I like the reports that you send with my son emprovement level.
Our children have been taking lessons at Bach to Rock South Riding for 5 years now. Each child started at a different level.
My eldest was in 6th grade and was a fairly proficient piano player when he joined Bach to Rock, but still needed to be told to practice. Since beginning at Bach to Rock, he has become an amazing piano player and has not been told to practice because he absolutely loves what he is learning! One of the joys of my life has been listening to him play anything from Classical to Irish Ballads to Pop songs while I go about activities around my home.
Our middle child was in 3rd grade when he began at Bach to Rock having completed a few years of piano lessons when we lived in another state. He kept asking to play the guitar as if it was calling to him and eventually I gave in! Since he began at Bach to Rock, he has had the opportunity to work with a truly gifted musician and teacher who has inspired him. He has played solo and in a band, acoustically and on an electric guitar. He also takes great pride in the practice he does at home.
Our youngest child was in Kindergarten when she began her piano lessons at Bach to Rock. She has progressed more quickly than anticipated and can be found creating her own songs on our piano. Her connection with her teacher is extraordinary!
Finally, our family feels welcome with the staff at Bach to Rock South Riding. Kathy DiSanto, the director, is an incredibly helpful and responsive person. She always makes every effort to accommodate our needs and explain new programs. The front office staff is friendly and professional. We are so glad we found this exceptional program!
