The lessons are good but I think there needs to be a guide fir the parents so we know hiw to practice with the kids. After just two minutes with Shane, I realized we had been doing the homework all wrong.
Our drum teacher, Sean Mason, has done an incredible job of making lessons fun yet challenging. Our son started when he was just 4y/o, and Sean was very responsive to my request to use demonstration (I knew would enable our son to start learning quickly). Sean was great about working where our son was developmentally - giving him a lot of praise even if he went in the wrong direction but clearly was trying his best as a pre-schooler. Sean would celebrate - and then ask him to do it again as originally intended. With Sean's tremendous energy, intense love of music, and kindness, our son just took off!
Now our son is 7y/o and has had the chance to play in a band (I don't cry easily but I did as they played ZZ Top. He had a very neat opportunity to play with kids 3-5 years older, and they sounded amazing and they were all beaming)!
Funny, as I am writing this, a very intense version of Rock You Like a Hurricane just began in the basement :)
The B2R instructors that my 3 kids have had have been AMAZING! We are so happy with our 4 years with B3R South Riding. Sean, Eugene and Ysenia are polite, professional and truly care about my children and their musical education. Kathy and Lora always make us feel welcome and have worked with my family to find times that suite our schedule.
We loved our B2R Rock Birthday Party this past weekend. All the kids had a blast and even the shy ones were participating by the end. Shawn and Shane did a great job engaging the kids and making sure everyone had fun. Our birthday girl was over the moon with the party and loved every minute of it!
