Working with personal trainer, Sheree, is the best and safest way for me to work on strength training without injuring myself. We can keep a great conversation going while sne watches my reps, adjusts weights, reminds me to breathe, and gently helps me keep my body in alignment to maximize my workout. Many friendly faces, lots of spirit lifting support from staff as well as from fellow exercisers. Maybe one day I’ll make my way into a class. I understand they are all wonderful!
I love the YMCA and appreciate them being in the Black Mountain community. The staff are always so very nice and polite.
The only negative is that it seems like there's something ALWAYS wrong with the hot tub. It shouldn't constantly be broken down for maintenance all the time.
The facility is clean and well run. The best thing about it, however, is the family atmosphere. You get there early in the morning, you’re warmly greeted, you see your friends, have a good workout, and go home happy. What could be better!
I enjoy the temperature of the pool, as the cooler temperatures make my muscles and joints hurt. I sometimes go to the water aerobics class and love the instructors.
One item to look at is the cleanliness of the showers in the ladies locker room. The tile work should be redone, as I know it is at least 20 years old. Larger tiles may be easier to keep clean as the grout has black ares of mold.
The maintenance of the property is otherwise excellent, and I enjoy going there.
Black Mountain YMCA childcare, including drop-in and parents night out, is fabulous. My children love the staff and I can tell that the staff care about my children. This community resource is invaluable and a lifesaver for a family like us who does not have local family to help with childcare. Thank you!
