I think the staff and members at the Brem YMCA are incredibly friendly--its a great community with wonderful amenities, the sauna (which could be hotter , but the door bottom seal may make the difference), the jaccuzzi and the steam room. The hip hop classes have a staff of teachers who support and participate in each others classes within the larger Kitsap Y community!
I just got back from a cross country trip , during which i stopped at three YMCAs, a great opportunity and service of Y membership. The scale of the facilities were lacking intimacy, with a far less friendly clientele...the scale and interaction within programming at the Brem, YMCA contrasted with the exposure and lack of sound privacy at the newer facilities in Spokane, Lincoln ne, and Champaign-Urbana il. We have gem here.
It is easy to get there, the Bremerton Family YMCA. I like the exercise program for seniors at 10 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays followed by a Tai Chi class at 11 am. I love to do Tai Chi.
Unfortunately, I am unable to attend because I am the night-time caregiver to my sister who is gravely ill and immobile.
I'm not sure what the name of the cleaning person is who cleans the room with machines (same area as the front desk) (Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:30pm) BUT I wanted to share how AMAZING she is!!! Not only does she do a spectacular job cleaning (pristine!) but she is super welcoming. Her smile, eye contact and greetings make my night!! Thank You!
I only really use the pool area and the members and staff are friendly and accomaodating. At the other Y's there's more purple and it can get hectic. Bremerton is way more calming!
