I like that so many kids and counselors continue to come year after year. When she arrives and sees people from previous summers it really kicks her camp week off fantastically.
My daughters love the counselors and the activities. I like that they get to be outside, trying new things (like canoeing and paddle boarding!), and learn more independence.
This is our foster child's second time to attend. He really enjoyed making friends, the activities and getting the horse award for the second time! It is so great that we are able to send him through the generosity of Dallas CASA and the YMCA. Thank you so much, this means a lot to him!
I loved the fact that the kids got to experience different activities and meet new people. One thing I did not like was the fact that no one did not tell my 8 yr old to change clothes or advise him to look throughout his bag for items like soap and underwear. He did not change his underwear the whole time. I understand you guys aren’t babysitters but some of them still need a little help especially if they are foster kids and have past trauma.
The whole experience was excellent from beginning to end. The staff including the junior campers helped make my grnddaughter feel safe and comfortable considering it was her first time away from family. I'm not sure if transportation was provided in previous years but if it;s an option from Dallas I would volunteer to drive/ride with other parents. Thanks so much for the opportunity and hopefully she will be back next summer.
Thank you for providing a wonderful summer camp experience for my two boys. I was a camper at CGS in the late 90's. It was harder than usual to send them this year as I know two families affected by the Kerr County camp flooding. I was reassured by the good communication, including emails and photos. Instructions were very clear for all logistics. The boys had an amazing time -- loved all the activities, food, and friends. Thank you!
Camp Grady Spruce has been my children's favorite place to be in the summer for over a decade. They get to try new things, make friends from all over Texas (and the world!), be challenged, participate in fun traditions, and deepen their sense of self and values. As my older kids have moved from campers to CITs to counselors they have gained invaluable leadership experience and made lifelong friendships. CGS has helped my husband and me raise our kids to be good humans!
Camp Grady Spruce is such a great get away for kids. My son is a boy scout, and this camp speaks to all of his hobbies. He is well taken care of when he is there. He has made real friendships.
