The instructors are patience and caring when they work with my grandson. The instructors celebrate with him when he accomplishes big and small steps in his swimming lessons progress. Their actions are helping him build his confidence both in and out of the water. My grandson went from barely wanting to put his face in the water to blow bubbles to diving for swim rings. Thank you, YMCA swim instructors.
My son started out telling Mr Lou that he was scared and didn’t want to put his head under water or even his eyes. By the end of the first class you could see the confidence. He’s now in his 10th lesson, and he’s mastering all of the things they’ve covered. Best part is he loves it and wants to jump in.
I come here for the deep pool. I’m working on improving my swimming for triathlons this summer. I haven’t used any of the other programs or activities yet.
Besides finding that the Y has been a supportive family community for me, I extremely enjoy their water aerobics program at the central YMCA Youngstown branch! The music and exercise combination releases a tremendous amount of stress and gives me so much more energy throughout the day! The stretch class along with cardio and strength activity has rejuvenated my mind and body! Personal physical training sessions have also been a huge factor in my receiving more mobility, better balance, and stamina! Personal swim lessons helped give me more confidence in the water, not to mention that the instructors were very patient and very knowledgeable of my needs! I look forward to going as often as I can and thoroughly enjoy every minute!
Al’s water aerobics class is wonderful! He is dedicated to his students, always on time always positive attitude. More people oughta try it especially the 530 class.
It would be nice if you could bring back a Tai Chi group fitness class. I appreciate all the work that all the staff does to make downtown a good place to work out.
