The guys were very nice, polite but due to bad estimation on the part of the call canter were totally unprepared. They were also not prepared for our apartment complex, it is big but if they had grouped everything (as I suggested) it would've gone so much quickly & with much more ease. After waiting 45 mins I came looking for them & found the elevator propped open and the entryway in chaos, it made zero sense. After just taking over to organize things by room as my husband & I marked each box for and the guys realizing that whilef one person loaded the boxes on a cart the other would take them down to the apartment, not only would things would go much smoother but faster. I understood that the owner had to leave town on an emergency & that things were a bit of a mess because of this but the person left in charge, although very nice was totally untrained on how to manage. And after several attempts to contact him were unsuccessful & after an hour of texting the guys (with me present) were able to get ahold of him. They had advised that this job was way to difficult for only 2 men & that they needed help, I had heard the protests by the person on the phone & had stated how we NEEDED & I WANTED ANOTHER PERSON! finally said he'd be there & after 90mins (the 2 guys continued to work) finally showed up all huffy but finally realized the situation. After he & I butted heads on how this should be carried out he finally realized that organization & prepping were the best resolution. The guys who did this job while totally thrown off guard (I had advised the person on the phone that our apartment was far, how many boxes, etc we had) but truly did their absolute best. The two who had ridden this through gave much more than 200% and were amazing. I have used CHHJ many times at their location in Delaware, Ohio & when we move again might pay the extra money just to have the always prepared & amazing movers that we had in the past. Yes, they were THAT good. In the future it might prove useful if the guys had a layout of the complexes, ours was available online, to know where they are going. (The guys got lost a couple of times, this is very easy to do). It also might help if the call center people were to observe an actual move so that they understand how things should run. I do hope the owner of our Columbus CCHJ is doing well for I have not recieved any communication save for the email regarding our payment. I had to pay by check b/c noone had the cc attachment. I really wish that the 7hrs spent to move a 2bed apartment would've gone smoother but it is what it is. I hope this helps for future moves for prospective clients because if the guys were prepared for this move it would've taken 4, 5 hours tops. Thank you. Grace Beam
My initial quote from Kyle was for 1/4 of a truck load. 2/3 of the way through the job, he approached me and told me that they could either stop working (and leave 1/3 of the materials) or they could up the estimate ~$100 to 1/2 a truck load. We needed this stuff gone by the end of the day, and we had already canceled our other estimates since we liked the initial quote, so we agreed. When I asked Kyle why the estimate changed he said "I'm not trying to hassle you," which, in my opinion, is a completely unprofessional response. He never apologized for his misjudgement. We were happy to pay $334.00 for the 1/2 truck load (I checked at the end and the truck was in fact 1/2 full, but it would have been nice to have an initial quote that was at least close to that, as we expected to bay $227. In almost any other business, I would expect a company to honor their initial quote. I'm just incredibly disappointed that Kyle cared so little about the job and that his initial estimate was half the volume that the material eventually took up. He either needs to be better trained or he needs to not be the team captain for the day. His partner (David, I believe) was courteous, polite, and hard working. I did not see him fiddling with his cell phone (unlike Kyle) and he was patient with me when he called asking for directions to our warehouse door.
While I liked the ease of scheduling and the prompt arrival of the crew, I am reluctant to recommend you all in the future. I'm disappointed that the professional attitude CHHJ touts was not present yesterday with your crew leader.
The young men who were sent were very nice and tried very hard to remove my freezer that had thawed food in it. They were not equipped with the proper equipment to complete their task. Their supervisor, Bill, then arrived with a dolly and the freezer was removed. He did not assist with manpower in any way. He came in yelling and threw several remarks to me blaming me with them being late to their next appointment and advised I should have told them the freezer had food in it. I advised I had done so on the initial call and he threatened listening to the recorded call. I advised he should do so. Because the freezer sat so long at the bottom of the stairs waiting on Bill, there was such leaking that because of antimicrobial measures that had to be taken, I am having to have the entire room of carpet replaced at a cost of $6,000. No, I am not happy and I would never recommend this company and if Bill speaks to everyone like he did to me, he should be fired. All the young men were very nice.
