We bring Rex to Dogtopia frequently and are typically happy as Rex seems content to be at Dogtopia and I believe he is well cared for. This Thanksgiving, at pick-up on Sunday, however was a different experience. The staff gave me another Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I took one step out the door and realized it was not my dog. The staff was apologetic about the mix-up, but rationalized that they "look exactly the same". They do not. I asked if Rex had had a bath, since they gave me another dog, and they said yes. He stinks, so I doubt that's true. This makes me doubt the level of care Rex received over five days in your care. Did my dog got the proper food and TLC if he was confused with another dog the entire time he was there, or just at pick up?
One of our dogs returned from dogtopia sick. We were sad to see the inordinate amount of time that they spent caged up on hard crates. They never appeared to sleep in their beds that we brought - even though staff said that they did. It was sad to see them on the webcam, just standing around on concrete floors for days at a time without exercise or play. They never had access to their toys that we could see. One dog gained weight as it appeared that they were overfed as staff ran out of the pre-measured food that we brought.
We have always had a very positive experience but this time not so. When I picked Cookie up he was supposed to have been given a bath. He was soaking wet when he came out. His behind was also completely soiled apparent;y after a bowel movement. He was trembling all the way home in the car. He seemed so nervous to go home that I didn't have a chance to talk to the receptionist. But I did point out he was very wet, and he simply charged me for full service.
I like knowing that while I'm at work, my dog has the opportunity to be with other dogs interacting/playing/being active instead of just at home and alone. I trust this business and the employees of this establishment and know that while my puggle is there, he is in good hands. He always come home tired but happy. I also enjoy being able to at work seeing him in one of the rooms through the webcam.
