Like the family-oriented programs available at the Y. Childcare makes fitness for parents possible...sort of like giving Mothers and father 5 minutes peace. It is a children's book. A good one.
The pools are nice, but the scheduling system is chaotic, due to lifeguard issues. The pools are clean and the lifeguards seem to be committed to swimmer safety.
The fitness equipment is top-drawer. The problems are the usual: people sitting on the equipment while looking at their phones. Otherwise, it is awesome and diverse.
Also like all of the community outreach programs, like the food pantry they run once a month in the gym. Lots of members help and even participate.
The group exercise classes, especially BodyPump and BodyAttack, are great. I am a bit annoyed that BollyX is scheduled the same time as Zumba. You would think you would spread out the dance cardio classes so there is at least one option each day of the week.
It please me to see the many people engaging in various activities like pickleball, water exercises, basketball. The facilities are excellent for them and for those with staff direction the help is good.
I like how welcoming everyone is. I usually am shy about going to workout but I felt comfortable attending my first step class ever here and everyone was so encouraging that I can not wait for the next class!!
Very pleased that we are back to some consistency of group classes. Greatly enjoying the yoga and pilates classes. Instructors are doing a great job of helping me keep my 73-year-old body moving and strong. Thank you all!
There are programs for kids all the way to seniors directed by people who really care about the people who come there for exercise, education and fellowship. As we age, we need programs that benefit our wellbeing. Although I cannot do Jumba anymore, the Silver Sneakers and Forever Well are great for cardiac and strength building and retention. I have made wonderful friends here that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Crafts and Birthday Bash are so much fun! Dancing With The Silver Stars is a great experience! I feel very blessed to have the Duncan YMCA in my life!
My mom and I always feel so welcomed and loved when we arrive for Silver Sneakers, Chair Volleyball, and Stretching. Very senior friendly!
Annalia and Sheven are attentive, fun instructors, and Sophia, who helps with set-up, always greets us and makes sure mom has a spot in the front.
