I love the senior strength classes. Linda is so good. She makes the classes fun and I feel like I get a good workout. She is also so kind. I also love how she ends each class - it’s uplifting.
I am enjoying the furious funk and water aerobics classes.
The beach front pool was an enjoyable experience for my grandchildren.
Except for the leg curl machine. which pads needs replacing, I am also working out on the weights.
I like all of the Active Older Adult classes, especially Shawnee's class on Thursday. I like to be challenged, and her class does that!'. I've tried several different yoga classes and they are all good, too. I just tried Lisa's class on Balance & Stability and that's a good one also. I've been to Kristons stretch class and enjoyed it, but the time of day is not very convenient for me. Everyone is welcoming and inclusive & friendly!
The one comment I have is that there is not enough of any of the "extra" equipment used in the AOA classes. Not nearly enough hand weights, especially in the lower weights, 2, 3, 4 pound, as there are quite a few people that need to use the lower weights. Not enough medium sized balls, not enough sliders, not enough chairs, or stretchy, small or large straps. The room is large, & the class is popular, so between 25-35 people take the class, but the equipment amounts are not sufficient. Substitutions are made, or people do without, but it'd be great to have enough.
Love your dance classes - more times. Fierce Funk and Line Dancing are great. WERQ classes would do well here. Perhaps more strength classes should be offered, like Body Pump tailored to women.
I began attending the Y at East Lake during a very difficult season in my life. I started by taking a few classes, and every instructor I encountered was kind, supportive, and fantastic.
It was the Active Adults classes on Tuesday and Wednesday with Linda, though, that truly motivated me to keep going. Linda has such incredible energy—she is full of love and life. Her classes have helped me not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well, especially after my partner passed away from cancer.
The Y, and Linda’s classes in particular, have been a huge part of my healing journey. I am deeply grateful for the community, encouragement, and care I’ve found here.
Joining the East Lake YMCA has been one of the best decisions I have made. I am a part of a community who some have become friends. The classes and instructors are top-tier. The staff have been so welcoming. I look forward to going to the gym. I’m grateful.
Joy with the Coach Approach has been a lifesaver. She is very knowledgeable about working out and what I need to do as an individual. Dedra with Healthy Connections started me on my way with the blood pressure program. I have visited a few locations, and the only thing that needs a little improvement at this location is the front desk greeting guests.
