The East Atlanta YMCA quickly became our chosen hub for community and fitness after my wife and I relocated from Boise, Idaho to Decatur. Among the many excellent programs offered, it is the exceptional classes led by Joy Fields that truly stand out and keep us coming back.
Joy doesn’t just lead her classes; she leads them with such vibrant intensity that each session surpasses the last. Her method goes beyond instruction—she motivates and enlightens, merging deep anatomical knowledge with practical application. This isn't just about learning movements; it’s about understanding the reasons behind them.
Encouraged by just a few sessions, I enrolled in the Coach Approach program. This decision proved transformative, notably enhancing both my physical wellness and overall lifestyle. Joy’s attentiveness and commitment to my personal fitness goals have not only spurred visible changes but have fostered a newfound resilience in me. Under her guidance, I am fulfilling my potential, and the results are nothing short of life-altering.
The impact on my wife has been equally significant. She frequently attends Joy's classes and participates in the Coach Approach program as well. The transformations she has experienced are both profound and inspiring. Thanks to Joy, we're now more active and engaged in our daily lives than ever before, equipped with the belief and tools to do whatever we dream of.
Joy is stern yet incredibly nurturing—a coach with a heart who genuinely seeks the best for her students. Her presence at YMCA has greatly enriched our lives, instilling a simple yet powerful mantra in our household: "move your body!"
Our connection to the YMCA is indelibly linked to Joy’s presence. Should she ever depart, it is certain that we will follow, carrying with us the invaluable lessons and passions she has ignited within us. Signed, Maria Niglio and Terry Ford
I don't take advantage of most of the programs or activities offered by the East Lake Y but there's a good variety of them to choose from. I primarily use the Y for the treadmills and cardio machine. Overall, they're good. However, I feel they are aging out, breaking down more often, and I wish there were more. Treadmills are hard to come by at 6:30 in the morning.
I do not use the programs or activities. However, I like the space in general and the different workout areas more than anything. The "cross fit" flex space is really nice for mat workout and the additional weights, sled and rope is a plus. The only thing I would say that could use some improvement is locker room cleanliness and maybe one day a locker room upgrade. Overall, I really enjoy the East Lake YMCA workout facility.
