Sorry, but I already reached out to the location when I paid our invoice in full to make sure they understood my displeasure in the price. The product was wonderful and I appreciate that Todd and the team ended up getting the sign installed in time. But here is what I sent to them the other day:
Thank you again for the great finished product and for getting our sign installed yesterday before noon.
I just called and gave my credit card info to run and did tell the gentleman that I was disappointed that the labor estimate was so far off. This ended up costing me more than if I had gone with another company who had given me a firm price of $500 for the installation.
The gentleman just told me that it took so long because the company that was going to do it has machinery to do the work that you had to do by hand. But because we had the misunderstanding of the date, they could not do the job. I have 2 issues with this:
• First of all, I do not believe that it is my fault that your team had to do it by hand. I had originally asked for the sign to be installed on September 12th or 13th, which your team was okay with. But when you called last week to tell me that we had to wait until the local authorities could come and mark the site, we discussed that it was OK if it was not done on those dates as long as we were good to go before our event. The event has always been scheduled for the 15th, so I am not sure where you got that the sign did not have to be up until today (Friday). I don’t believe that I should have to pay $340 extra for that issue.
• And secondly, I understand that the quoted price for installation was $85 per man hour, which makes sense since the team that was going to do it was to be using machinery. But your team did it by hand (which is appreciated). So why would I pay the same $85 per hour rate for a service that took more than twice as long. I would think that the rate for installation should have been about $40 per hour since there was no machinery used.
Once again, I am very pleased with the end result and appreciative that your team did whatever it took to get the job completed in time, but am not happy that I ended up having to pay so much more for what I had originally stated needed to be done on the 12th or 13th.
I will reluctantly authorize the full amount, but I do not see using your company again for any of our upcoming projects after having to spend so much more than I was expecting.
