They are very age-appropriate and supportive for diverse needs. My daughter has ADHD and Autism and struggles with feeling like she isn't good enough when she tries new things. She looks forward to basketball at the Y every week though and I have seen tremendous growth.
My daughter is actually learning how to swim. She’s taught how to use her arms and basic swimming skills. She’s been elsewhere and it was a money grab. They taught her how to swim very slowly and were slow to move her up. Last summer she could swim the length of a pool, but without using her arms because she hadn’t moved up to that next level yet for her to learn how to use her arms. In my opinion, it shouldn’t take longer than a year to learn to swim. She was there for a little over a year. I was deeply disappointed in the program.
Good after-work hours of availability and on weekends. Nice selection of machines and freeweights for working out.
I don't know if I have a section for grievances after I submit here, but I do want to complain about the pool availability during the Summer. Why is the indoor pool/hot tub not available in the evenings? That was a major selling point for me in choosing the Y, to go swimming sometimes after work. I do not want to feel obligated to wear sunscreen just to swim laps in the outdoor pool during the Summer months.
