They're very tailored and individualized, which is great! Other gyms I looked at had personal training sessions that you bought by the hour, which was nice if you just wanted to learn how to use a machine and then go on your own. But I was looking for someone to help me stick with a program and motivate me to follow through with it.
My trainer, Ganson, is very good and very professional. He's been very willing to accommodate some physical limitations that I've experienced this year. I like being able to work out one-on-one with the trainer in a private space as opposed to a large gym. The scheduling is quite flexible. It's close to my home.
I like the convenience to my house. I also like the knowledge and personality of the trainers, both of which are extremely important in the personal training environment. They are very willing to adapt to my desires and limitations, or even if I'm just having a bad day and used up all my energy to just walk in the studio door. They work with me if I have specific goals to achieve and as a result, I've been able to walk several half marathons since becoming a member. All in all, a good match for me!
I like that I get to work out privately. I like that Ganson takes my ailments into consideration when he builds my plans and works with me on strengthening the appropriate muscles around the joints (I.e., knee) as needed.
The best part is the customization to meet the client's needs. This includes me at age 59 working to overcome too many years of a sedentary lifestyle, my husband at age 73 with rheumatoid arthritis that sometimes limits his movements, and my mother at age 84 who needs to work on strength and balance to improve mobility. In addition to the workout sessions themselves, I've learned a lot about stretches to do at home and how to care for the occasional foot problem, such as Achilles tendinitis.
The exercises are challenging and I have made so much progress since starting at Fitness Together that it provides great incentive to keep it up. It has also caused me to make exercise a daily habit.
I also like the privacy of individual rooms, especially when I was starting out not happy with being overweight and not confident of my capabilities.
Having the cardio machines in the entry area is great since I don't otherwise have access to such equipment. I use them before and after my session, and take advantage of them when I bring my mother for her workout session.
I enjoy the personalized attention, encouragement, and assistance. In addition, I appreciate the guidance provided me to use equipment and exercise correctly! More importantly, I see the fruits of my labor.
