I've had my bike overhauled and readied for the summer (after spending the winter on a trainer) by Frank's Spoke 'n Wheel in Sudbury for each of the last two years. The pricing is fair and transparent. In fact, this time, they didn't think they could replace my rear tire with the exact make and model I had. After quoting me a price for a more expensive replacement, they found the "correct" tire in stock and used that instead, which actually saved me money over the quote they'd provided. Service is also pretty fast, which is important when you want to get out on the road.
Not for nothing, but I bought my road bike at another store seven years ago. It was expensive by my standards, but I think I got a fair price for what I got. Service there was also pretty expensive. They seem to deal primarily with true road warriors, and that ain't me. Then, again, the fact that I have the bike readied for the summer each year probably indicates that I'm somewhat serious about cycling. I then had the bike serviced for a few years at a better-known store with multiple locations. The last time I'd been there, it took forever, and I then had to go back twice for adjustments. Perhaps bad luck, since these other guys are well-known and highly regarded. Frank's seems to cater to the dedicated but not crazy cyclist. I've had nothing but good experiences there. I see really good names in bikes on their floor for sale at what seem to me to be very good prices.
I feel like I learn something every time I go into this shop. I'm not ready to fully maintain my own bike, but I'm getting closer. I really like these guys.
Scott and John are very knowledgeable on every aspect of bike riding. They give you the pros and cons of each model bike and assess your riding style to fit the right bike. In the end, they just want you to be happy and comfortable with your new bike.
Scott was very professional and knowledgeable. Thanks to his expertise I bought a Trek bike that is perfectly suited to my needs.
It was great that you had the bike in stock and on sale. I much preferred to give the business to a local Sudbury business. Thank you!
