I love community. I love the class instructors. Bridget who teaches the evening Zumba class at the Geauga County YMCA is phenomenal. Her class is exciting with challenging movements that definitely raise the heart rate but at the same time she shows modifications and is so joyful and encouraging. She inspires as well as facilitates a feeling of community and comradery - she basically imbues the very values of the YMCA.
Kathy who teaches Pilates and core conditioning is another great instructor. She takes the time to help each person in her class to make the most of the movements, avoid injury, and excel.
They are both keepers for sure!
I also would give a shout out to Les Mills and body pump instructors - great classes.
I also enjoy the diversity of programming as well as the fitness room with the variety of exercise equipment.
I like the Chardon Y, but it could be a little cleaner, and some items as a hair dryer that works and maybe a kleenex box in the locker rooms. But overall a nice place to work out.
I like the group exercise classes in the gym where there is lots of room for people to spread out. The weights, mats, benches, handle bands, and exercise balls provide our instructors with plenty of equipment to change up their routines.
As we get older we need to work out with weights and keep our legs moving. I personally have osteoarthritis in my knee and scar tissue from a surgery. Getting on the bike has improved my ability to walk better and improved my pain. I’m So happy my husband and I have joined the Y and we will continue to be a member until we can’t drive anymore.. and hopefully that gives us at lest 15 years…..
