I enjoy the indoor lap pool. I primarily do BodyPump at YMCA Southwest and Dripping Springs. When it is extremely hot or cold; I go to Hays YMCA and swim indoors. Very refreshing!
While recovering from a trip & fall in my bathroom from a new bath rug (no rubber grips on the underside) which impaled me on the side of my bathtub, I activated my silver sneakers on my BCBS Advantage insurance for the first time in my retirement. I try to go to YMCA 2 or 3 times a week but at nearly 80 years old I’m not consistent. The fall which fractured 4 ribs has been slow to heal but I feel better physically & mentally by using the exercise machines & going there gets me out around people, I love the employees & seeing the children coming & going with their parents helps my mental health as well. This insurance benefit is amazing & I hope more seniors are using it to live a full & healthy life. I look forward to esch workout to the welcome I receive from the young adults working the front desk who inspire me with their kindness & friendliness.
I like that they teach fundamentals without being overly competitive and let kids learn and see if they like a sport before committing to tons of practices and it being overly serious before they even know what they like.
Janet Wallgren and Jackie Reilly have been helpful for years scheduling and paying for the lessons my daughter receives. They are valued for their service and dedication to making my daughters experience a successful one.
I enjoy the senior strength classes with Cynthia and Mae. They tell you the benefit of an exercise, the correct way to do the exercise, and an alternative if needed. They keep it interesting and fresh. I feel I'm accomplishing my goals even though I still have a lot to learn
