The Downtown Y is a hidden gem. The facility is old but very well kept. The pool is awesome and has character. It's in the basement with glazed block walls - reminds me of the pools in the public schools back home. The water is very clean, unlike some of the other Ys in town. There is no wait for a lane and a bunch of families and rowdy teenagers taking up more than the single lane. This is appreciated by people who actually swim laps for exercise.
The things that I like personally are that there is always something going on at the YMCA, regardless of our age, I like the activities, and the programs that they have to offer, plus because you can meet all kinds of interesting and nice people, as well, and that you can learn different things here.
The programs are so varied, interesting, fun and challenging. The staff is very helpful, kind and knowledgeable. Brent,, Leonard, Deb, Nick and Collier are just the best. Kudos to the High St YMCA!
Hi, this is Patrick Digiacomo. I love the friendliness, the kindness the respect that all the employees have. I love the character of the building. It’s old. It’s perfect. It’s exactly what I was looking for when I moved here from California. I specifically am a big fan of Beth the trainer who’s helped me stretch And improve my flexibility dramatically.
I have only played pickle ball and swim at the high street Y. I should take a tour so I know more about this location
I swam on Saturday and I noticed the pool had a lot of sand in it and I told the desk attendant and I don’t know if he would do anything about it, but it needs to be cleaned.
