I love how it focuses on learning the game, having fun and sportsmanship. All players get to play and the teams even switch up each game, changing the composition of the team, teaching them to adjust to adversity and change and play off of different types of players. The coaches and refs really care about the kids and teaching them the game, as well as respect for each other. And it doesn’t focus mainly on competitiveness, making it more fun for them. It’s just an all-around great program for kids wanting to learn the game and have fun.
The coaches were amazing with the kids, very patient. Communication has been great throughout the season as well. Also love that there’s an award given after each practice/game, gives the kids something to look forward to and work towards. Overall, very organized
Like the emphasis on player confidence and well being. Great staff, very helpful and clearly kid-first.
Do not like the existence of “super teams” from local clubs, especially senior flag football. These are confidence and morale killers.
Would love to see a randomized draft stratified by age, where kids are randomly assigned to teams, splitting the ages evenly. You could allow a very few exception for households (coach-player; siblings) etc.
Outside of that, highly recommendable to friends. Looking forward to next season.
I love how easy going it is! With a three year old, we were hoping it wouldn't be too strict and make her not want to go. Everyone is so friendly! Our daughter got an award and didn't take it off of her neck for two days!!
I like the fact that you all are about the kids, and are a sportsmanship organization. Meaning you alls focus is on the kids learning sports, and growing mentally.
I believe I9 Birmingham has been very communicative and informative.
I love the non competitiveness and supportive environment. I love that we cheer for our kids and their team, but in the end it doesn’t matter who wins. Everyone gets a turn to play.
My only complaint, if you can even call it that, is that I wish it was on Sunday afternoons instead of Saturday mornings. We’ve had to skip weeks due to birthday parties, Cub Scout events, and other sport commitments.
Previously we did Upwards Sports at another church that did it on Sundays and it was perfect timing, but they only did one sport. I much prefer i9s program and our experience has been great, just limited due to other commitments.
This program is great for beginners! I love the fact that it is laid back, focusing more on sportsmanship and learning how to play the game than it does winning or competing. The coaches have all been great and they really value each member of the team, giving everyone the opportunity to play and be part of the team. I would recommend this club to anyone looking to get their kids started in any of the sports they offer.
