The basketball program has been amazing! Just thinking back to the difference a few weeks have made in every kid, many of whom have never picked up a basketball before! The staff coaches have exceeded our expectations. They teach “manners” in a fun way - listen and respect your parents, coaches and teachers and I loved when they emphasized knowing other’s names. Of course, repeating the dribbling drills and learning a new skill before each game to build upon the prior week’s lesson then putting all of that in the context of a game teaches the kids the right way. My son loves basketball and I Thank you!!
The mission, the attitude, the people--this all combines to make for a really positive experience for kids and parents. For those of us who realize our elementary school kids aren't professional athletes, the mindset at i9 is the perfect match. For those with kids in multiple extracurriculars, the once weekly design helps us juggle those while (gasp) fitting in our own lives too. I can't say enough great things about i9, especially Coach Romeo, Coach, Dave and Coach Joe. Coach RJ and Coach Sherrod (sp?) have been awesome additions to the basketball team and always great the kids with a smile.
We love the basketball program at Severna Park. The staff coaches and great! They seem to care about the kids and give a really good effort to teach them the age appropriate skills. Also, we like that the teams are kept small so the kids all get playing time.
We weren’t thrilled with the soccer at Indian River School last year. The staff was really nice but kindergarten shouldn’t be grouped with second graders. That’s way too much of a size and skill gap. My son looked like a giant running around babies. Also, he thought he was the greatest player because he easily outmaneuvered tiny 5 year olds. We just stopped going.
The i9 organization is very professional. The sessions start and end on time! The coaches and parent volunteers are friendly and inclusive of all program participants. Also, I love the email reminders. My grandson looks forward to Saturdays😉.
