My 8 year old son plays basketball on Sundays. I like that the programs do not require a tremendous commitment when the child is young and you're unsure if they will like it or not. It is a very good starting point. The coaches are sure to include everyone and they are big on team work and sportsmanship.
The coaches, staff, and owners are great. Very friendly. I think it would be great if you offered an option for more extensive practice that allows kids to have more time to master the basics such as ball handling, game rules, and team playing which is important for the younger kids especially. Overall, it is a great program!
This is the first time my sons have been involved in organized sports. I am very impressed with the way the coaches handle them, they’re all calm but direct. My sons went into this believing it’s all about winning, they now see the importance of patience and learning, then the winning will come. I’ve signed them up for flag football and will continue signing them up for more programs.
The goal is to make the kids feel welcome and a part of a team environment, yes winning is important, BUT, the more important part, which i9 has really grasped, is for the kids to have fun, be themselves, get playing time, develop good self esteem and confidence and grow as a child. It really is great, I wish more kids took part.
