I like the learning aspect of it.
What is frustrating though is the lack of knowledge from the refs. It is frustrating a coach can take 3 minutes to draw up a play every time (and yes we timed it) - basically delaying the game and the ref didn't do anything about it until we said something for a third time. we spent more time watching the other team's coach in a huddle draw up plays then we spent watching the kids play football. And coaches were also always on the field in the middle of the plays - being another person our team had to avoid. The refs also missed a couple of calls that changed the outcome of the game because they appeared to not know the rules. They also called touchdowns and extra points that were outside the boundary lines because the were not in a position to actually see the 'planes'. Which again, changes the outcome of the game.
I doubt you will actually read this and do anything about it but that is my opinion.
I loved having practice and the game togheter. I loved how the kids got to learn so much, and have fun with little pressure. I also really apprciated how close the field was to our home. We also had an amazing coach!
My daughter has done I9 soccer several times and we always ask for Teal as a coach. Teal makes sure that the time has fun and learn new skills. I like the fact that the team parens does a arch under which both teams run at the end. The games end in smiles and happy kids.
I like the setup of doing practice before a game. It gives kids the opportunity of trying something new without a huge commitment. I like the values it teaches. I don't think a medal needs to be given out every week but only because it seems wasteful.
We have had so much fun with i9. My daughter loves it and I love being her coach. We highly recommend it. Just like anything, it is what you make it, but if you put in the effort, you will have an amazing experience.
The two seasons we’ve participated in so far have been nicely organized! We appreciate that most every parent supports their kids just having fun and not getting overly competitive.
