We had a fantastic season my only complaint was the last game being a double header it was distracting and difficult with the next players trying to warm up while our game was playing. I understand the coaches are volunteer but good sportsmanship would not have been to interrupt play for the teams. Our kids were so distracted and being young already was not a good example.

Hi! We like i9 because of the one day format of practice and a game on the same day, we like that i9 keeps score and calls fouls and free throws this year. I think it’s helping the kids learn the game. I like when the refs explain to the kids what to do instead of calling everything, like dribble the ball instead of running with it or you can’t go back over half court, etc. A few areas of improvement would be 1) to find an actual basketball court instead of the carpeted location, but we do love the free parking and centralized location. We wouldn’t be able to drive to clear lake or far away with all the other activities we have going on so a central location is first and foremost in terms of priority. 2) I like that you have refs but the first game our ref did not know the rules at all. Also, once he was told the rules (ie no full court press, for example) he was hesitant to blow his whistle and let the other team full court press for most of the first half until another ref stepped in. 3) The scoreboard operators are never paying attention to the game and at least 3 or 4 times a game points are given to the wrong team and it’s not always corrected or parents and coaches have to say something and then it’s still not clear if it was fixed because other points are being scored in the meantime and they’re back to watching the other game so then they get behind again. Since you do keep score, you need dedicated scoreboard operators for each game who are actually watching the game, not both games and not chit chatting with other people instead of watching the game or doing both games scoreboards. You also need a possession arrow if you’re calling jump balls now, which I like that you are but again it needs to be kept track of. 4) Also, the reffing is quite inconsistent from game to game and from the beginning of the season to the end and even within games. Last game the reffing was very disappointing and in the end we lost by one point and all of the above issues came into play. There were points that were possibly awarded to the wrong team during the game and we were not sure if that was ever corrected, there were two calls at the end of the game that were just wrong, one the ref got right originally and then when the other coach came out on the court and argued he changed the possession, it was never explained to us why and I don’t think that’s the kind of behavior you want to reinforce from coaches. And one was a shooting foul called against our team in a tie game with 6 seconds left after a foul not having been called the entire game. One foul shot went in. Our team came down and was fouled but nothing was called for us. He let them play that play and we lost by a point. You can’t call a foul there or you need to call them all game. Our kids were really sad and I hate to see the season end like that and games decided due to those kinds of things. Makes it hard to explain to our kids. Also maybe designate a home bench and a visitor bench aligned with the scoreboard. It is very confusing when the visitor team is sitting next to the home score on the scoreboard and that caused quite a bit of scoreboard confusion on the part of the parents one game. We loved our coaches! Thank you for listening to my feedback!

This program has helped my son’s confidence in many ways! I give the biggest applause to the volunteer coach. He’s always so positive and reassuring to the kids. The downside I was disappointed in this winter Round is how we had 2 games canceled and never made them up. That’s money I paid & 2 games my kid didn’t get to play! Very disappointing

They're fun! I love a quick practice and a game all in the same time and day- the perfect introduction to try a new sport.

One of two refs this season very helpful. Both were good with the kids. League, however, failed to provide a substitute coach, forcing an unprepared parent to step in and coach at the last minute. Even head notice to the team parents that someone needed to step in as coach that day would have been helpful. Location is great. Start times are very inaccurate when games run over. This is not fair to kids who start later in the day. Start and end times should be adhered to and there ought to be a 15 minute buffer built into the schedule between one event and the next. Otherwise, you get overcrowding, the oncoming set of teams distracting the teams currently on the court, etc. This was a big downside.

I really like that this program is close to our home, and the coaches have been very encouraging to my beginner son. Since joining, he enjoys the sport even more and has improved a lot! I also appreciate that it doesn’t feel overly competitive. The focus seems to be on making sure all kids have fun and develop good sportsmanship, rather than just on winning or losing.
