Hi! Thank you so much for another great season. We really appreciate the format of i9, and that it allows our family to focus on other activities during the week. SO many sports programs just completely take over your life, and it's nice to have a program that still helps a kid grow and gain confidence without taking over the entire families schedule!
That said... a few points of feedback:
-Our coaches for volleyball the last few seasons have been very lacking. Little to no natural leadership abilities or skills. Yes, I realize I could step up and volunteer like they did. But I also have a 2-year old who probably wouldn't let me! haha
-Medals have been handed out with little to no discussion, or reasoning. I actually do really believe in using the medals as a motivator and a great way to support kids who aren't the stars of the team but are still contributing in meaningful ways. This season our coaches are actually allowing the athletes to cast their own votes for who earned the medal, and then having them vote. That doesn't seem right.
-I haven't seen much growth in my athlete through your program. The coaches need some specific skills or ways to warm up the kids that actually teaches the game. It feels more like they are just there to supervise and make sure the game happens and keeps moving.
-It was really frustrating to have a game on Mother's Day
-The teen referees have been consistently keeping pretty bad score
-There is no greeting from the teen referees, and the seem very subdued and shy. They definitely don't seem to be empowered to help keep the game flowing.
-Mountain Park church is not a great volleyball venue due to the low ceiling.
I do believe in your program, but I think that the volleyball program in particular needs a little sprucing up.
The location (Mountain Park Church) is very convenient to us. The basket ball courts there look great. The coach is very kind and easy to communicate with. I like the setting of the class, half time for practice and the other half for game - usually with another girl team, so that they could practice the skills they just learnt. My daughter really had lots of fun in the program!
Organized and efficient. The league office was extremely helpful and kind when I realized I missed the discount cutoff and needed to get multiple kids signed up for different sports.
The environment is set up to allow young kids have time and space to develop skills and teamwork. The basketball camp my son went to in January set the tone, and he learned so much and had fun. The basketball season has been excellent with amazing volunteer coaches teaching 5-6 year olds new skills each week.
I like how the younger kids all get an opportunity to play and learn the game without too much competition. The consistent schedule. I like having one day a week dedicated to practice and the game.
