The Y has always had a program for my age, from 38 to 80-except for a time near retirement, when I needed Yoga. My arthritis had gotten so bad that I had to go elsewhere for Yoga. The years were 2[PHONE NUMBER REMOVED]. After COVID, I returned for Silver Sneakers. I did use the treadmill during the yoga years, and never stopped my membership.
Hello - I was excited to join as a member due to your aquatics classes as I've been searching for months for times that are outside of the '9-5' workday and your offerings are the perfect time of evening (7pm-8pm) and 8:30am on Saturdays. Since becoming a member, I'll say there have been some areas of opportunity and improvement.
The app is really challenging. I'm not able to scan my card into the app to save it; it simply doesn't work. The aqua classes also changed names the first week so that was a bit wonky. I have had a lot of work travel and school softball schedule impacting my recent attendance but I come every time I'm available.
There was a time on a Thursday evening swim class where the instructor was a 'no call, no show' and four of us went ahead and stayed on and made up our own workout class.
The class I like the most that really brought me here was the deep water aerobics offered on Monday evenings. I just learned that it will not be available throughout the summer which was deeply disappointing to learn.
I understand that when I joined in April, the regular teacher, Donna, was out on medical and she has since returned. Donna, and her sub Lisa were fantastic teachers that provide a great workout where we do different moves each class and it's a great and challenging workout that people can modify to their level. Haley is very kind, however her workout classes leave a bit to be desired in comparison to Donna and Lisa. They are not challenging enough, and there isn't much variation in the workouts in my opinion.
Now that we're moving into summer, I'm looking forward to experiencing the aqua classes in the outdoor pool.
Love the metal lockers. People are personable and friendly. Separate dressing and showering facilities for men and women, no universal locker rooms! Looking forward to opening of outdoor pool.
