Caroline the director at the Kaimuki Waialae Y is awesome. My mom participates in the Kapuna program and it has been such a great addition to her life. After Covid and after 4 yrs of having her social activities put on hold it was difficult to ease back into activities. My mom currently is 95 and goes to the Y 2-3 times a week to attend Kapuna sessions as well as Tai Chi and Yoga for seniors. The senior programs allow her to be socially and physically active. Caroline runs the program well. She and her staff makes everyone feel welcomed. I know my mom is in a safe, caring and enriching environment. I am so grateful for the Y and the incredible staff that makes it all work. Thank you to the Y and the people that make is such a special place!
Facility is mostly outdoors versus in an enclosed building, exercise areas are a comfortable size, equipment are simple to use and staff and members are friendly and helpful.
The facility is small but the staff work to make every square inch useable. It’s close to where I live and offers classes that I’m interested in. Additionally, it’s smaller so I got to know my fellow class participants on a more personable level.
Mostly very nice folks attend the Y! Sharing and caring is common. Staff are very supportive of the members and seem to take pride in their work. Our family's health is better, thanks to the Y.
The environment is laid-back, congenial unlike some other high intensity fitness clubs who push membership sales, apparel purchase, etc. while constantly blaring loud music on their sound system. This local style attitude is reflected in the friendly, helpful staff who are always willing to accommodate member’s needs, requests. As with every organization, the quality of their member service starts at the top. The Kaimuki/Waialae YMCA is fortunate to have an excellent leader in EE Soo. Besides possessing the qualifications required of the director, she demonstrates tremendous people skills. I have observed her treating everyone, both colleagues and member clients, with respect and aloha whenever I’m working out.
