Toshimi's Tai Chi class. She is the most energetic and enthusiastic instructor I have known. Her classes are well thought out and include overall physical exercises often not addressed in other Tai Chi classes.
I also appreciate the coffee machine in the entrance room!
I like that the Kalihi YMCA has a variety of classes taught by experienced instructors. Tai Chi and Line dance are two of my favorite classes. I have also started taking yoga fusion which is challenging but just the right fit for me. The only downside is that a few of the classes run concurrently, so, for example, I am unable to take Silver and Fit because it is offered in the same time slot as the yoga fusion class.
I have met a lot of people in my classes and have become friends with many of them.
The staff is wonderful - friendly, knowledgable and very helpful.
Lastly, the Kupuna Program with it's nutritious lunch offering gives me the opportunity to socialize with like-minded seniors. Renee Guillermo, who is in charge of the program, is always looking for ways to make our time during kupuna lunch enjoyable and productive by planning field trips, arts and crafts activities, guest speakers, etc.
In conclustion, I love attending the Kalihi YMCA!.
