Once the season is going, we love playing volleyball at the Y. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially Tristan!
However, communication prior to the season starting is terrible. Parents need more than a 1 hour notice for practice starting; we should know at least 1 week in advance what the practice schedule will be. If you read the “carpooling” notes ahead of time, you will actually know what dates kids can’t practice, therefore saving yourself from lots of switching around when rosters are sent.
Disorganization like this is what severely hinders an organization from thriving.
I am very please with Lake Houstong YMCA - am impressed with the professionality of the staff and managers and the care and cleanliness of the facility.
I participate in the senior fitness classes. I enjoy them because cardio, balance and strength are incorporated in the routines. There are small changes in the routines to keep me from getting bored.
Elfie, one of the instructors is quite funny. She will walk around the class to see if people are using correct form. Ellen, another instructor, shows you what NOT to do to prevent injury and she motivates you to challenge yourself with heavier weights, if it's appropriate for you. Those are the two ladies I am familiar with.
