We recommended lightbridge to 3 families when we started there nearly 2 years ago. However, as of late we have found that the lack of communication- specifically when it comes to changes in staff- is unsettling and disappointing. It usually takes me having to raise a concern before a note or message is sent out. It would be nice for staff to be a bit more proactive when it came to making parents aware of impending classroom staff changes.
While the staff is lovely there is a significant turnover of teachers and very little communication around changes. It’s disconcerting and frustrating.
Dear Lightbridge Team
Kindly find the feedback regarding my recent visit to your center.
First I would recommend improving the organization and planning of scheduled appointments. I had booked a visit in advance which should have meant the team was aware of my arrival. However, when I reached the center, it appeared that no one was expecting us. The appointment confirmation mentioned that this would include a tour, yet we were not informed beforehand that noon coincides with the children’s nap time, meaning I was unable to observe the facilities or classrooms in operation. This was quite disappointing, as seeing the environment was one of the main reasons for my visit.
Additionally, during the visit I was repeatedly told that the classes may have already reached maximum capacity and that availability would need to be checked. This is important information that ideally should be communicated before asking parents to schedule and travel for a visit.
I would also suggest better alignment between your advertised goals and the information provided during tours. Your social media and promotional materials present the center as a place focused on supporting children’s development and preparing them for school. However, during my discussion with Andy, I was only given a basic daily schedule (what children do at certain times), rather than any explanation of how the center supports individual developmental needs. I shared details about my child and my expectations, but I did not receive any clear reassurance or plan explaining how the center would specifically help my child.
As you know, every child develops differently, and a learning center should be prepared to explain how it supports a variety of developmental paths. Unfortunately, I left feeling disappointed and somewhat misled, as the experience felt closer to a daycare visit than to what had been presented as a structured learning center.
I hope this feedback is helpful in improving the experience for future parents considering your center.
All staff provide impeccable service to the social development and education of students. The communication provided by all staff is wonderful. We know our child is in the best place at Lightbridge Academy.
My child’s comfort level and curriculum. I love being comfortable with leaving her everyday in a new environment and she’s happy during drop off and pick ups.
We are very happy with Lightbridge Montvale and the care that they provide for our infant daughter. We feel that she is safe, surrounded by great care takers and is appreciated as a unique individual. We love the consistency of care and we'd recommend LightBridge to all friends and family.
My son was one of the original kids at the Montvale location. Literally since the day the facility opened the entire staff has always made my son feel like home. There were days he was literally the only kid in the entire building, but he still was treated exceptionally by everyone. Fast-forward to now the daycare is extremely busy, but the quality of care has not diminished at all. We will always be thankful for Montvale light bridge. The wonderful people at the daycare have been a Cornerstone in the development of my son.
I love that there is a balance of learning objectives: art/letters/physical activity etc. My son excelled this year and it was a combination of the programs they teach and the staff who create an environment conducive to learning for young children.
Lightbridge academy in Montvale NJ has been a great experience for my son and I. He was constantly challenged academically and he received love and support from all staff. It is a nuturing environment where kids can grow and learn at their own pace. There are constantly new activities and crafts on a regular basis.
Overall we are very pleased with Lightbridge!! One thing I think can be improved is the consistency of teachers in each classroom. My child has been at Lightbridge for almost 8 months and during that time he has had MANY different teachers and not all changes are communicated to parents. I understand that there needs to be some rotation due to scheduling but one or two consistent teachers for each classroom I think would provide continuity for both the children and parents.
The staff and teachers at Lightbridge are truly wonderful. They care deeply about the children, and it shows in how they interact with them every day. My daughter loves going to daycare—she especially adores Ms. T, Ms. Nikki, and Andi. I feel confident leaving her in their care, and anytime I’ve had a concern, the team has been open, responsive, and willing to make adjustments when possible.
The only hesitation I have in recommending the center is the limited outdoor time the children receive. Even on beautiful days with ideal weather conditions, they are often kept inside. Outdoor play is incredibly important for young children’s development, and I wish more of an effort was made to get them outside regularly—ideally for at least an hour a day. It would also be helpful to have a clear, written policy explaining the weather criteria for outdoor play (e.g., temperatures between 30–95°F, no rain or snow, etc.). It’s disappointing to see kids indoors when the weather is perfect for outdoor exploration.
I've been extremely disappointed in the way the curriculum has been handled. Finally towards the end of the year the kids are starting to get a better curriculum, but I feel like so much time has passed that the expectations of where they should be have not been met. also, there seems to be a lack of communication. There was a teacher that was hired in Brown bears, but there was no announcement made. There was no information given about her or her background and then a few weeks later she was let go and you guys announce that and then just last week I was confused because I saw that teacher that was let go back in the classroom in her uniform, and I didn't know if she was fired or hired. That is a huge safety concern. I don't care if she left in good standing I do not care if she was the one who decided to part ways with you, but to let her back into a classroom with children I don't know what her intentions are. you guys tell us not to hold doors for other parents that are walking in behind us but yet you're letting someone into the building that was fired. I don't know what the circumstances were when she was let go, but that's a big safety risk she should not have been let anywhere near the children or the staff quite frankly. also, I do not feel that all the children are treated equally for example, if my child does something they get the maximum sentence if another child does the same exact thing I'm told oh they were talked to. They didn't do it again, even though I see on the camera that that child repeatedly did the same thing, but yet they weren't removed from the room I do not pay for my child to be removed from the room you need to retrain your teachers and have them handle situations better than just calling the main office and removing a child from the room that doesn't teach the child anything and quite frankly, none of these kids are doing anything that requires for them to be removed. Also, communication is very lacking at the school when there is a problem that arises and you want to speak to a higher up... They are nowhere to be found they go into hiding. They don't address the situation. It feels like the parent has to keep coming back and addressing the same situation over and over again. it feels like a parent is being gaslit into something saying that changes will be made. They will follow up but nothing ever changes. Everything stays the same also for the amount of money that we pay in tuition there are things that are not being utilized. I have spoken to the staff about the toys that are in the shed in the playground for basically the entire year and not once have I seen those toys being utilized. That would save them a lot of drama because children can't run around in a circle on the playground over and over again for however long that they're out there. Fights wouldn't start happening. They could play games they could utilize the equipment that's there. What is the point of having it and talking about it during the tour if it's never used and they don't, and those toys, don't see the light of day. also, when your child is being taken out of the room for whatever reason, there should be some form of communication so the parent knows what's happening so when the parent clicks onto the camera, they aren't worried as to what happened to their child.. are they sick? Did they get hurt? Did they get in trouble? There needs to be more communication on all levels.
My husband and I were really impressed by the center. We enjoyed our tour with Andi. She was very informative and personable. You could tell she really loves working for Lightbridge! We are excited to enroll our daughter Sienna there in July!
We love the Montvale Lightbridge Academy. Our son was one of the 3 original children that signed up for the Montvale location. We had good expectations, but they have been exceeded time and time again. We truly appreciate you helping to raise our son.
I'm disappointed because we are coming toward the end of the school year and the focus is still not on learning the fundamentals the children will need for Kindergarten. There is no consistency on a daily basis. Its the luck of the draw. You can go days or even weeks without seeing the children do any actual skills like writing, reading, math, etc. It is heavily focused on play still and things that do not matter. It's nice the kids do yoga and have dance parties, but that will not help them next year in their kindergarten journey when they will be faced with the challenges of writing, reading, math, science, etc. They are not where they should be at this point in the year and not much is being done about it. Also, another big issue is not all children are treated equally some can do no wrong others can breathe the wrong way and get in so much trouble. Its just not fair, and there is no consistency of rules. I was told that no child sits out or is taken out because how do they learn from their mistakes. There is no redirection the teachers cannot be bothered to try and make the child see what they did wrong and how they can approach it differently. Another huge issue is that a lot of things go a miss, I see things happen while watching the camera and when you ask the teaching staff to explain what happened they have no idea. There could be 4 teachers in a room at the time and not one can tell you what happened. That is a huge concern. I believe there needs to be more training in all areas and you need to hire people who are competent. Not someone who maybe babysat a child once in their teen years. It just feels like a huge waste of time and money, but its too late to pull a child out because of the connections and routine they have become accustomed to.
