I love our YMCA! The instructors are truly exceptional!! It is one of my happy places, with outstanding opportunities to focus on wetness! I take Sarah McCormack’s classes, and thoroughly appreciate the joy and energy that she applies to every moment of EVERY class. I feel grateful every day when I get to attend her classes! Also, Cara Whelan’s yoga classes are blissful and restorative and she brings so much light and lift to the experience. They’re healing and transformative and her genuine care throughout the practice is simply a gift. With people leading members at this level, our Y is exceptional and a joy to belong to!
The morning weekday staff are so pleasant and welcoming (John and the Jeff). The group exercise classes are excellent. In particular, all of Donna Miller’s classes have the biggest impact. She is a huge asset that has completely transformed my motivation and fitness level. She is the main reason I will stay at the Y over joining another local gym such as Orange Theory.
The sauna is a wonderful amenity but since the renovation, the door doesn’t close properly so it rarely heats to the appropriate temperature which is an ongoing frustration.
Beyond that, I feel the inter-generational camaraderie which occurs organically is another reason I would recommend our Y.
The only regret is that we had not joined sooner.
The feeling of inclusivity and comfort helps us keep our exercise goals real, from the machines to the classes and the pool too!
The staff has always been around, helpful and professional .
It's a welcoming space with lots of options.
My one point of feedback is that there are often people talking on their phones in the gym area, despite the signs. I'd suggest putting up more signs, such as in front of the treadmills or on each treadmill, and more throughout the weights area. Thanks!
the staff has been rsponsive to requests re: membership and several of the healthcare programs that do coverage. Very easy coordinating taking advantage of this benenfit.
