The interaction with others, The way everything is you make it a pleasure to come and feel welcome. Everyone is so nice, except it seems the silver sneakers class and the fit for life classes are always picked on. Meaning the lady a the YMCA on clough ,her name is Bridget I think she is the director or something. She has felt it was alright to chew a feel elderly women out over setting class up to early, when there isn't even anyone using the gym. Class starts at 8 and we aren't allowed to set up before 7:45. At this time class ends up starting 5 to 10 minutes late. So we don't get our full hour. Also we have to take attendance now and sign up for class everyday or you can't come. Not fair to those of us that's been coming for years to lose a spot to someone who sign up to only come for a week or two and doesn't come back or they sign up but don't show. Well I love it here but sometimes it's very stressful when Bridget yells at 70 year old woman like we are 2 years old...not cool
5 AM/wk swimming classes for Deep Water Aerobics. This is very helpful for those who suffer from arthritis as the activity has no negative impact on joints (no further pain or damage) but can put the joints through full range of motion movements. No other YMCA has this wonderful class with this frequency. I have been attending this class for 9 years now and many others do as well. Thank you!
The instructors are good and knowledgeable. Most people are friendly.
I do feel as if Brigid is not very friendly or accommodating toward the silver sneakers/fit for life class members.
Staff is friendly, helpful - always working to make members' visits pleasant and safe. There are programs/ activities to suit every age, physical ability, family group or individual, time of day -: what's not to like about such variety? And it's not static. New activities are added in response to requests or offered as instructors become available.
I’m very interested in your swimming program. That being said, I have been disappointed over the past couple of years because of the limitations that have been placed on swimmers like me to have availability to the domed pool over the winter. I understand that it is a lack of lifeguards. Honestly, my thought is that if you were too hard for them a better pay scale you may in part be able to alleviate that problem. I have been using your pool for decades and even though I move back to Hyde Park I continue to use the pool because I like it and I like the people.
I took the low-impact water exercise class this morning and loved it. Melissa is an excellent instructor and encouraged each of us to do what we're able to do rather than struggle to do what we can't.
I also enjoy the workout room as there are plenty of treadmills, recumbent bikes. ellipticals, etc., for everyone to enjoy.
I'll explore the facility more when I visit again.
We mainly come to swim. I love that the life guards are very well trained and on task when they are on duty. It is obvious they take their job seriously!
