The Y is a great place to belong. It's great to workout in the Wellness Center and I've attended classes and always feel really good after a good workout. The Y is more than just a fitness center. I also enjoy volunteering for events and helping out with the fundraisers. I also got to know alot of people at the Y and I still meet new people all the time whenever I'm there.
The YMCA has been important place for my family in different times of our life. When we moved to Harrison Township and were close to the YMCA in Mt. Clemens we joined as a family. There were programs for all of us to participate in. My young daughters did swim lessons, pre-school program Y Guys and Gals, gymnastics, Ballet classes, Synchronize Swimming, and even a nutrient program. While they were in programs my husband and I did exercise programs. The Y was a place for me to develop adult friends who had young children, we would even go to lunch at McDonalds with the kids and continue to develop our friendship. We did many Birthday Parties renting a room and the pool at the Y for friends and family. We made many good memories through the opportunities at the YMCA.
As the girls got older and active in school we did not keep our membership in the YMCA and I was busy now with a job during the day. When the girls were in college I would take an exercise class that worked well with my work schedule. Now my husband and I are retired and we have gotten active again in the YMCA opportunities. We take a Ti Chi class together, we exercise in the pool with the Water Aerobic Classes, swimming laps, do Physical Therapy exercises in the water, and we use the exercise equipment to strengthen and keep active with our bodies. I take a chair yoga class and my husband takes the body pump class. It also provide an opportunity for us to do something as a couple. Now we are developing new friends from the classes we participate in, Their is even people still active who I knew when my kids were young.
The YMCA helps us in many ways, physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and socially. I am so glad we have taken advantage of the opportunities the YMCA provides for people of all ages. I am grateful for the YMCA and what it has provided for me and my family.
I do the water aerobics classes. I enjoy them and our instructors are very knowledgeable and push us to work hard.
I wish they had two classes on Wednesday. Jill is willing to teach two classes. One class is very crowded and some of our members have quit coming on Wednesday because of the crowd.
