The staff is the best.
Also I like that you announced Open/Free swim it is only during specific hours. I hear laps swimmers complain that when swim lessons are going on, it limits the lap swimmers.
Here are my suggestions though:
For the pool: bring back the "slow, medium and fast" lanes for lap swim. This way when someone just wants to "float" in the pool during lap swim, they know to take the slow lane to allow lap swimmers to get their laps in. Also, when the pool is completely full with the maximum number of lap swimmers a fold-out floor sign (similar to a "wet floor" sign) comes out to say PLEASE CIRCLE SWIM. This will allow more people to share lanes and that way experienced swimmers will naturally take the fast lane to circle swim.
Overall: Create a Member's resource board for sharing. Every time I hang something in the locker room it gets taken down. If you had a member's resource/bulletin board we could share information. We all have a lot to offer. Services, recipes, news, etc.
we only use the pool and locker rooms but they are always clean and easy to access. lifeguards and staff that we come in contact with are always friendly and helpful and nice to always see familiar faces. now that pool has been repaired the water is clean and clear and no longer has a pungent chlorine smell. Thank you!!!
ALSO A BIG THANK YOU for having the cement at the front entrance replaced!!!
The customer service people at the front desk are friendly and always greet you as you enter.
The facility is clean.
They are pretty good at sticking to the rules. I am a swimmer and sometimes there are those who expect to have their own lane. The guards are decent at keeping the two per lane model now.
While I am aware the facility is aging, I am in hopes that the Detroit YMCA group keeps it up to par. There was recently a major pump? issue with the pool that had it unavailable for over two weeks. I was there when the facility was built, so I know how old it is. Hoping that there is a projected annual plan to continually maintain and upgrade mechanicals so that we don't experience that type of issue in the future.
The great staff at Macomb Family Y make me feel welcome and appreciated. Always a smile, hello, and willingness to help. They put the “family” in Macomb Family Y.
If you are interested in water aerobics, the program at the Macomb YMCA cannot be found anywhere else in the area!!! A multitude of classes every week . I can’t even explain how beneficial these classes have been to my health. Incredible!
Staff is friendly and equipment is clean and always working. Facility is clean. Outdoor flowers are beautiful, staff really care for the building, and it shows.
I am a member of the Macomb location and the staff are so helpful and approachable. I like the variety of activities they have. Childcare is such a great option for parents! And for socialization of the child. It’s connected to a great part by the water.
I am a visually impaired person and this has been my second week, the staff has been more than accommodating and friendly. After the first couple of days, the staff had remembered and called me by my name. The staff has been extremely helpful with showing me new equipment and getting started on a new routine. Facility is clean and organized, it has been a uplifting and life-changing experience for me personally.
