Facilities are always clean and staff are smiling and helpful :) Love the group class instructors too. (However, I’d like a different instructor for Friday morning Pilates. Bethany is nice but she doesn’t run the class smoothly, seems unprepared for class, and doesn’t remember the names of the moves. When I first took a class with her, I said to my friend “Oh, she must be new.” But she sadly told me “No, she’s not.” As a result, neither my friend nor I go to class on Fridays, when we really want to though. Bethany isn’t at the same level as the other instructors, I feel.”
I like going to the Y because I feel it is an open and welcoming environment. I don't feel judged or shamed for being in progress with my fitness goals. There are always members who are more fit and others less fit than I am. I like that there is a diverse community of members. I almost always see someone who does not look like me and people speaking languages other than English. The staff is friendly and helpful.
My favorite thing this Y offers is group fitness. I have enjoyed many of the studio classes including Body Pump, RPM, Spin, Yoga, Barre and others. I like the Les Mills curriculum but the best part is the instructors. Dani, Katy, Jenny, Katolo and Cassi are people I will schedule my day around--love them. If you have not tried a group--do it. We always make room, even in a full studio. All of us have varying abilities and are on our own journey. In group we get to cheer each other on!
