My daughter had previously avoided studying math until she encountered the young tutors at Mathnasium. Their gentle, non-instructional approach really appealed to her. The tutors only explain concepts when asked, allowing the kids to learn at their own pace and feel in control of their education. Additionally, various awards for completing tasks motivate the students. I do want to caution parents about the initial placement test. My daughter didn't put much effort into it, which resulted in her being placed at a level much lower than her actual ability. It took several conversations with the tutors to finally get her in the right level for her skill set.

It is for kids who like to study independently. It was great for our daughter, who did not like the strict structure of school lectures. Our only regret is not to start earlier.

My daughter loves Mathnasium - she's advanced in her knowledge and love going. It's the one activity she doesn't even want to quit for the summer! and she often brings a friend as a guest and they always have a blast - and learn!
