Lisa has been with Mathnasium for a little over a year. She has progressed 3 grade levels in that time and got a "B" in her general math class at the end of this year. She still has far to go and she will continue at Mathnasium not only because of the progress she has made but because the staff is positive, caring and knowledgeable.
Everyone is so helpful and so wonderful to work with! Lucy has loved each tutor she has worked with! The flexibility of dropping in at our convenience is a dream! The price is steap for us. I wish we could pay per visit.
My daughter is getting exactly what she needs to progress in math consistently. Mathnasium identifies the gaps and provides the precise attention she needs to succeed. Thank you for having this program in our area of SW Portland! I appreciate that it is close enough to attend at least 2 times per week.
We could not be more thrilled with our experience with Mathnasium. All of the staff have been wonderful and really appear to understand the learning needs of children. Our daughter has been attending for the past several months and absolutely loves it. Prior to Mathnasium, we had began to notice that she appeared to be struggling in certain areas and was becoming frustrated easily. Within a week of attending Mathnasium, on a regular basis (3 to 6 times a week), her entire outlook on math had changed. She is much more confident and now finds math fun and exciting. Our biggest challenge now is on the one day a week that Mathnasium is closed, where she never fails to mention that she wishes she could attend 7 days a week.
Clear information about what the goals are. Excellent assessment (first time that my knowledge of my daughter's "problems" with math were accurately verified--PPS can't/won't do this level of assessment), neuropsych testing can't identify the levels of "math fundamentals" that are missing. Assessment written and sent to me in language I could understand easily. Repeat assessment at appropriate time interval, with clear, extensive feedback to me. This assessment again identified something that no previous teacher of her ever talked about--though I have talked of it every year to teachers and tutors since she was very little-- of blocks my daughter places in her own way for learning--she asks questions of adults, trying to get them to do her work (and is often very successful in this regard) instead of relying on her own knowledge. She will do almost anything to "not think through" her math on her own. And they identify this as an issue and will continue to support her in not having this behavior.
Daughter is getting the math easier than when she was taught in school. The methods are true to her learning and she is happy she now understands math better! Wish this was taught in school for all the learn it. Thank you
My daughters confidence in solving problems has change so much and she is so excited to answer problems in class and enjoys Math. She really likes the instructors and looks forward to going. Such a change from just a month ago. Thanks!
My child is making consistent progress with Mathnasium. It fits his learning style, but more than that, Mathnasium can work with any learning style because it is individualized and mindful of student gaps and strengths. Work is performed and assessed in a non-judgmental environment. Support is there as needed, but not thrust upon students as constant monitoring. The environment is peaceful and allows for focus without stress.
Unfortunately Elanor is not committed to Mathnasium. She needs help in multiplication tables but doesn't seem to be going ahead with what she is doing there now. Could we make an appointment with Karen to talk about this. Elanor wants to quit. [FIRST NAME REMOVED] (grandmother)
Sydney seems more confident when doing her math. She actually asks to go to Mathnasium more often than not. She seems to have connected with the tutors and enjoys going. I can tell she's getting stronger in her math skills!
Great teachers, always helpful, just a great program. My son wants to be there and actually asks to go...some weeks he has too much other homework but we try and get in a couple times a week at the very least.
