I have a background in engineering and an MBA but am unable effectively detail mathematics and mathematical concepts to my children. My oldest daughter, Ryleigh, has been struggling with math for over a year and I feel that by the end of the last school year she lost most of her confidence regarding her ability to be a "smart" student. Because we put so much emphasis on the need to earn good grades, the constant reports from her teachers, and thus her parents had a negative effect on her morale and happiness; as she was receiving continuous negative feedback, even if we tried to do this constructively. For the past several weeks my daughter has been a regular attendee at Mathnasium and loves it. Through every day conversation we can see an improvement. Ryleigh tells time quicker, makes quicker decisions and provides quick answers related to differences in values. Ryleigh can and wants to practice math. I never thought Ryleigh would be happy-about and enjoy math. But now she does. The staff are unbelievably friendly, affable to children, and can effectively portray the concepts to children. They even sent a birthday card for her birthday. The staff are a talented group of individuals that have played an invaluable role with my daughters happiness and confidence in just the short time she has attended Mathnasium.
Kind Regards, Nick Holbrook
Mathnasium has done a great job working with my 5th grade son! He was really struggling in Math at chool and the staff did a FANTASTIC job working with him. He enjoys going to his sessions and likes working with all of the staff in the Severna Park location. The staff is very patient and works with each child at their own pace and makes learning Math fun by including little games and my son even learned how to play chess. I appreciate everything that Mathnasium has done to help my son improve his Math skills.
Engaged, committed staff make learning about math fun! Everyone is patient and encouraging. My kids have recommended it friends without me saying a word!- that's high praise! And their grades reflect it, too.
The Mathnasium tutoring staff at Severna Park were superb. Our son found them caring, kind, and very helpful at helping in guiding him to progress through his learning experience this summer.
The director, Kurt, was magnificent. He made it very clear what the goals and pathways for our son's summer learning would be, he was engaged with our son's learning throughout the summer, and he provided a thorough and informative summary of how things went at the end of our son's summer enrollment.
As a math professor myself, I would most highly recommend the Mathnasium at Severna Park to families who want their kids to have a positive and beneficial learning experience with mathematics.
