I just recently joined the Melrose YMCA after trying out a Tai chi class there with a day pass. I was impressed by the facilities - plenty of workout machines, super clean, and plenty of programming. Every staff member has also been super friendly!
I like pickleball. I know that day camp children need more gym time during the summer. However, I’m very disapointed that some times over 16 players will come to play and there is only 1 court available. This means that everyone spends more time waiting to play than they spend actually playing. Also it appears that most of the noon time play slots have been reduced to 1 hour. Has time been taken from other gym activities? Or has only pickleball time been reduced?
Based on what my toddler says it's fun and definitely tires him out. The only downside is that we don't get to see what the schedule is before hand so it's hard to time (if applicable) early pick-up.
You have a wide variety of fitness and health programs for all ages and needs. The schedule is flexible, costs are reasonable, and the staff is welcoming and helpful.
The kids had fun at the Y camp. They especially liked swimming every day and not being limited based on the weather.
It would be great if they offered extended day like Saugus does. 4pm is tough for parents who have to commute at all. I would sign them up all summer of they had 5 or even better 6 pick up.
