Generally the programs and activities the Y offers are good; basically something for everyone.
It would be nice if there were more yoga classes offered in the evenings and weekends. Many people who work during the day cannot attend due to current scheduling.
I was somewhat disappointed in the Outdoor Pool this summer. I have listed a few reasons and possible ideas to consider moving forward:
1.The pool should open earlier, on weekends (10am), especially for families of young children. 2.This summer, on probably 75% of my visits, some feature of the pool was closed. The excuse is always not enough lifeguards. Maybe it is time to consider hiring more guards or overstaffing knowing someone will not show up to work on any given day.
3.Cleanliness of the pools (lots of bugs floating around with minimal skimming being undertaken) and deck (band aids & trash were often seen) were not ideal this summer. Attention to these details makes a huge difference in how members view the value of the outdoor pool. 4.Several times the pool was being vacuumed during operational hours, which is fantastic, but resulted in closing of the features. This cleaning could be done before or after the facility opens & closes for the day.
5.Pool set up this year with the competition pool being half recreational pool was not good. If programming is happening or the family pool is overcrowded (which is rare), this is understandable. The competition pool is designed for lap swimming/walking. Many people purchase memberships just for this purpose. It doesn't need to be a family fun pool. Allow the family pool to be larger by removing lap lanes when both pools are open.
6. The attempts to cool the pool water by using the water cannon process was great. Thanks for doing that. It did work & helped keep the pools cooler during the hot summer days. Much appreciated.
The Y is a great place overall. Thanks for reading.
We do not use the Programs and Activities as our daughter has either aged out or not a sports type person.
Our daughter has participate in some of the teen craft activities and enjoyed them.
I love the classes that are offered. I wish there was a yoga class in the evenings or on the weekends. Midlothian is a great facility offering programs for every age!
Swim lessons have been so excellent!!! Tom has done such a great job with our daughter. You guys really know how to put the Y structure for swim lessons into action!
I love everything about the Y.
seeing the little kids, seeing all the friendly staff and patrons, and enjoying the great classes.
I do not use the workout equipment- but I am sure that is nice too!
