We are base customers in Wilmington, North Carolina and operate a Falcon 900 and a CJ3. We just had a rear lav service done on the Falcon and received a bill for $175. I thought there had been a typo on the invoice, but yet when the ladies at the front desk told me there had been an increase across the board. I find it very unprofessional not to be notified as a base customer. I also think $100 increase for a lav service is extremely steep. Especially when we average between 32 to 45,000 a month in fuel purchase. I can understand going up on prices just a little bit but for base customers to have to pay 175 for a falcon lav and 150 for a CJ lav. That is Highway robbery. It doesn’t cost that much in Monterey California where the fuel is $10 a gallon for a lav service.
I spoke with Richard about it. He suggested me filling out the survey. So I am and we will just purchase fuel on the road to offset the difference in the cost. In the long run it’s going to cost Modern more money in fuel sales with us then Modern will make on the lav increase. I’ve always tried to get back to homebase with min fuel to support our homebase. I am not going to worry about that anymore.
We arrived to disembark passengers on a quick turn. Unfortunately, the ground team was nowhere to be found after the passengers had exited the aircraft, and they didn't offer any assistance.
We had set up our Modern Aviation Network account via KFOK airport. When I went inside to to get a copy of the receipt, I was told I had to pay by card. I explained that we had been set up in the system for the entire network, but the CSR seemed annoyed and told me she couldn't help. I ended up paying the invoice, and the CSR continued talking to her colleague.
I asked where the lavatory was and received a stern look. When I departed, no one came out to assist with the carpet and chocks. A marshaller eventually arrived during engine start.
While the FBO's building was clean and nice, the overall service was disappointing, especially considering it didn't appear to be busy at the time of our arrival.
