As an active senior, I exercise daily and also come to classes at the Y. I enjoy BodyPump and Mat Pilates. Been attending these classes for over 10 years!
Excellent weight & exercise machine rooms and swimming pool. Great mentor programs as group water aerobics, yoga, etc and personal counseling of individualized exercise programs. Friendly personnel and instructors. Wonderful child programs like swimming, summer camps (in which my children participated nearly 40 years ago). We love the YMCA & even sing the song with alphabetic arm motions at water aerobics class. Go Tara, Keirie, Yubraily!!
during the upgrade (modifications of equipment setup) to the gym at Katy, some good and useful equipment was removed or quantity reduced. There were two Abdominal Crunch machines, now only one was left, the sad thing is that most of the time it is busy (only one for too many users). Be aware that many users like to work their abdomens with this equipment, I would suggest to return minimum a second one back please.
Ballard has some excellent instructors and members.
I suggest more than 55 minutes for Stretch and Restore, and for Tai Chi.These are slow movement classes (unlike Combat, BP, etc.). Consider taking them to 75 minutes length. They are very popular and fill up the Cummins room.
Zumba is my favorite. The instructors are all very nice and encouraging. I love doing the group classes that are offered: Barre, Zumba Tone, Zumba, CSI. It's a great way to keep moving with the support of an instructor.
