My local Y (north Austin) has a lot of community events, in addition to being a great place to exercise. I am currently paying for a personal trainer and I am really enjoying learning about new exercise options and becoming more comfortable with the equipment. I also really appreciate how friendly most staff are who work the front desk. Most are really quick to welcome me in with a greeting and most also wish me a good day as I leave. Thanks for all that you do!
I only use the lap pool. But I find the lifeguards and the aquatic Director really care about the people that are using the facilities. The lifeguards are very helpful, courteous, and professional. But so are the people at the welcoming center when you come in. I love the diversity of people at this Ymca. I love this Ymca. This is my favorite Ymca of all of the Ymcas I’ve ever been to in Austin.
I think Ymca is a wonderful organization. I just read an article in New York Times about how the YMCA understood that people in the Pine Ridge Indian reservation lived in poverty, and in very crowded conditions. That wonderful YMCA organization went in and built a bunch of small homes that will be rented for extremely reasonable prices for those people that have suffered in poverty far longer than any other Americans. Ymca is wonderful. And the north Ymca is super wonderful.
I've doing personal training twice a week with Steven Avary, and it's been great. He's really easy to work with, and I think I'm already stronger.
I also like how friendly the people who staff the desk are. Always smiling, always welcoming--it really makes the experience of going to the Y better.
