The location gets an 11 out of 10 for the staff, everyone is welcoming and friendly and helpful - they're all a big part of why at 42 learned to swim for the first time.
That being said, the pool is consistently not open during the week as scheduled at 5:45. There was a period early spring where it did not open until after 6 a single day that week. I ultimately had to switch to Gahanna, which is less convenient but if not open early, is always open on time. Due to my work schedule, being in the water by 6 is a necessity to get the practice that I want in. Conversely, when the high school is renting the facility in the fall/winter, this doesn't seem to be an issue.
The pool just had a complete maintenance and cleaning as well, and the water is already starting to get cloudy within a few days. I'm sure the filtration system is aging and struggling to keep up. Absent the ability to make upgrades, there may need to be improved enforcement of the rules, i.e. no cotton materials and showering before entering to help this.
The staff and the other patrons.
I go for the pool , wish there were a more challenging yoga class, but keep coming back because of the people (and the pool!).
The North YMCA is well maintained, clean and organized, the communication with members is kept up, staff is helpful and pleasant, the classes are good and scheduled well, great programs for kids, the members are considerate. I especially like the diversity among members and staff. Never change!
everyone is very kind and it’s like a little family and I can do all my workouts in peace without fear of judgement and everyone kind of lifts each other up and even offers to share equipment and there’s not a lot of equipment but enough to do exactly what I need and get a good workout in
My family and I have been members of the YMCA since 2012 and it literally feel like family when I walk up in there! From Ms Sherri to Ms Robin, the fitness instructors (Ms Tori), the maintenance folks, they are all welcoming an helpful. Our kids all practically grew up in that Y! From daycare while we work out to after school care and the summer sport camps. Our oldest son has even worked as a Lifeguard during his college breaks. The North YMCA has been a blessing to our family and community.
I love the community we have here at the Notth Y. Everyone is friendly and courteous. (Staff and participants)
I take group fitness classes and we do activities outside of the Y as well!
The Y is extremely clean especially the bathrooms! Restaurants should take cleaning lessons from the Y!
