I visit the N. E. YMCA because I completed the Liivestrong Cancer survivor program there. I visit the Norton Commons YMCA often because it's closest to my house and I absolutely love the track upstairs. My husband and I have improved our health and ability to walk longer because of our work-outs at the Norton Commons YMCA. Thank you for being a part of our lives..

Staff are consistently very friendly and welcoming at the YMCA. This is probably my favorite thing about the Y. Staff are consistently approachable. It also makes me happy to see staff chatting together, laughing together, and being supportive of each other. It's important to me that employees have positive, supportive work environments. This is so critical for our community.
I appreciate how hard the Y staff work to keep the facilities clean. While it is probably not fun to do the cleaning, please let them know that it does not go unnoticed and that I really, really appreciate what they do. I've talked to other Y members as well who are impressed with how hard the staff work to keep the facilities/buildings clean at all Y locations in Kentuckiana.
Of note, there previously existed a 5:15 p.m. Refit class on Fridays at the Norton Commons YMCA. The instructor, Nanci Weingarten Whitsett, is such an uplifting and fun instructor who had truly built a community with her Friday class. Many of us attended the class every week and really appreciated her positive attitude, the modification options she taught us for the exercise dances, and the community she built. She helped us learn each others names and spent time with us after class (when possible) to really build a community that cares about each other. Many of us still keep in touch via text messaging and I love seeing these fellow Y members in other classes. We always enjoy catching up with each other, but we are really missing the 5:15 p.m. Friday Refit class. I hope it will be added back to the schedule.
