I have a gym at work and at my apartment complex. The reason I pay to attend The Olathe Y is to participate in Michelle Liefert's Body Pump classes! She is such a great inspiration, and I LOVE BODY PUMP!!!!!!!!! =)
As a daily swimmer at YMCA's across the nation, I definitely desire to share a very exciting change that I am seeing with the Olathe YMCA as compared to other YMCA's around the nation. * actually, I am seeing changes at three Y's (Parkville S., Northtown, Olathe) in the KC chapter compared to years past. I believe senior management still has a ways to go but from the Y aquatic division, noticeable changes are taking place. Note, I have had to join an outside private lap pool for consistent availability that the Y still has been unable to manage. But better still none-the-less.
Regarding Olathe Y. Exceptional front reception personnel checking people in and what I think is going beyond the call of duty. Five stars to especially the young Muslim woman with her infectious smile and caring aptitude towards her job. In the pool area, Life guard Jonah is as good as it gets. After discussions with him and observing his keen eye on swimmers, when the need comes, I am certain he will do whatever it takes to ensure the safety and saving of his swimmers. Although I am now a strong swimmer, I do have Parkinson's Disease and control my PD symptoms daily through swimming. I've had only three Y Lifeguards of the numerous Y's nationwide that I've swam at over the past three years that left me with the feeling that I would be safe under their watch. I'm very happy to report that JONAH is one of those lifeguards.
I love everything about the Y but especially the way everyone is accepted no matter your race, ethnicity, gender etc. Diversity, equity and inclusion makes our world a better place! Thanks for making everyone feel welcome.
Most people at front desk are personable. I like the fact that the pool is divided with two temperatures. I like the fact that it is not too expensive.
Always treating kindly and if I need any help someone is there for me. All the coaches are always there with a smile and greeting. I am not very active now as I guess I got old. But young at heart. Thank you for many years of help and healthy advice.
