I like that the work out is already determined when I attend class. I like that the action to do is told to me- and I don't make it up.
For 40 years - I would only run- always wanting to get faster and stronger- but remained the same- never an improvement-
Then I wanted to get my stomach muscles developed- I would promise myself after I've ran- I'd do sit ups- that would never happen.
Arms and shoulders- the same- couldn't do it on my own-
I knew I needed help and direction in getting stronger and developing the rest of my body.
I tried other gym ideas over the past 10 years in my "quest".... crossfit- just heavy weight encouraged- not enough aerobic- I went to the YMCA- did classes- classes were not strenuous enough -
3 years later- (now) I'm still longing to get strong- lose weight- be more disciplined- be in better shape- so I studied the philosophy of Orangetheory- I agree that men like weights and women like aerobics and the blend of both made sense to me though I was too lazy or lacking of physical body building knowledge. That part appeals to me.
I do not know that I believe about the afterburn effects- that I'm skeptical about-
I do like that the work out is already thought out for me and I only have to follow-
I'm in a field where I am always artistic and creative and thinking new things for clients-
I like that someone is thinking for me, and I only have to follow- I am personally disciplined enough to work hard and be self motivated the entire hour.
Lastly- the staff is nice and greet me when I arrive- they know my name- other members in class will speak with me too. ( that is most unexpected because even though I have lived in the main line for more than half my life- and feel invisible here except to my friends)
I think that the professional friendliness of the staff and other members is what is most surprising- I do feel comfortable at Orangetheory- love the physical workouts and most of the other members will at least say hello.
