The inspector claimed the chimney flux was inoperable when in fact it was ok. And had an issue starting the furnace when it did in fact work. When there was a discrepancy found (unstable railing or island) there was no input on how to remedy the situation. Not sure if that is something we need to rely on with an inspection, but considering the price we pay it’d be helpful to hear some minor input on self improvements.
Glenn was very nice and explained what he was doing at all times seemed to be very thorough and knowledgeable about the tests. Made me feel comfortable with the process, I don’t do this every day and buying a house is stressful. Helped to put my mind at ease.
The gentleman who did the inspection was very kind, courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. The only issue I have is that I think $319 for a 1000 sq. ft. condo is rather pricey. There was not much to look at and the inspection was done in little time. In contrast, the company that the buyer of my home used charged $350. It is a 3 bedroom home with finished attic and basement, 1800 sq. ft. The home is over 90 years old so there was a lot to look at. The inspection took 21/2 hours as opposed to less than an hour. My fault! I should have shopped around!!!
Found out that after inspection and the water company came to turn on the water that the inspector missed that the well lines and city lines were fused together at the joints. Water company stated that this should have been caught. This is going to cost some money on my part. Frustrating that this was not noticed from a trained professional. Would change my score to a 4 due to negligence.
Purchasing a home is as much stressful as it is exciting. Jeff took time to explain the mechanical components of the home that were unfamiliar to me, took special care to review/investigate my “areas of concern,” and offered helpful tips on maintenance and home care that will be used for years to come. All of this helped alleviate the stress and made the home-buying experience much more exciting.
The price could have been less expensive.
It seemed the wood destroying insect inspection was not worth it...definitely not worth the price. Just not sure what was done different from the normal inspection where you wouldn't have found the same thing you find with the WDI report. Overall, satisfied with the inspection and the inspector was pleasant to work with.
