Our daughter began attending Pines West during their 2023 summer camp and she took to it like a fish out of water! Her brother had already been enrolled for about a year so we knew what we were getting into and we had high expectations that have been exceeded with time.
She was in great hands from the very beginning with Ms Lisa who teaches the youngest class with poise and unshakable dedication (she seems to be one of the first in through the doors and one of the last to leave every day). It's a small student to teacher ratio at that age, and we were delighted by a daily dose of pictures and videos showing us how much our little girl was doing in class and outside. Her smile made us smile, and we never doubted that she was being well taken care of at PWA.
Another constant for us since we enrolled our son has been Ms Massiel (one of the many staff members who seems to do everything and anything that’s needed across the different classrooms). She’s one of our favorite staff members in the building and both of our children love her for obvious reasons.
We did have some concerns for the beginning of the school year (after summer camp), only because the teacher for that class had resigned and we weren't sure who was going to replace her. Luckily the director Ms Teri came through in an amazing way.
Our daughter’s teachers are Ms Monica and Ms Yesenia. They are fantastic - very caring and sweet. We feel incredibly lucky to have them guiding and supporting her each day. She absolutely adores them and talks about them all the time, which, speaks volumes to us about the positive impact they’ve had on her. It’s clear that she feels safe, loved, and truly seen in their care, and that means the world to us as parents.
One of the things we’ve come to really appreciate is the sense of community at PWA. From the front desk to the floaters and specialty teachers, there’s a genuine warmth that makes drop-offs and pick-ups feel personal. We’re always greeted with smiles, and it’s clear the staff know and care about each child - not just the ones in their classrooms. That kind of environment is hard to find and impossible to fake.
We also appreciate the open communication between the staff and us as parents. We always feel informed and supported, whether it's through daily updates or the occasional check-ins when necessary. It’s clear that the staff genuinely cares about our children’s well-being, and this partnership has made all the difference.
Special thanks to Ms Teri, the director, who truly sets the tone for the entire school. She’s responsive, engaged, and always present - both literally and in spirit. You can tell she cares deeply about the children, the families, and her staff.
We couldn’t ask for a better start to our daughter’s educational journey, and we look forward to the continued positive experiences ahead!
We love Pines West Academy and we have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone seeking a nurturing environment for their children. This is not a daycare where you just drop your kids off for the day to be supervised. It's a place where you will find devoted and smiling faces who take great care in helping your little ones thrive at such a crucial part of their lives. Of course, they will have lots of fun, but they will also learn about a wide range of things and be challenged in the process.
From the moment we toured the premises, we were thoroughly impressed. Despite being a fairly tight space, it's well laid out with windows from each classroom looking into a shared space that's often used for special presentations and activities. The other thing that struck me on our first visit - which has been reinforced repeatedly over the past two years - was the director's obvious passion and commitment. Ms Teri has been working with children for a very long time but that hasn't done anything to lessen her fire or warmth - quite the contrary! She's very hands on and seems to be involved in every single thing happening at PWA. She clearly cares deeply about the school and everyone in it. That's one of the reasons why it feels like one big family. My guess is that’s also one of the reasons why she has been able to retain staff for years on end, in an industry that is notorious for its high turnover rates.
Maybe we acted as a jinx in that regard. Within weeks of enrolling our son, his teacher (who we were very fond of) had to resign suddenly. The timing couldn't have been worse for us - and the school's administrative team. Luckily, Ms Massiel, one of our favorites staffers, stepped into the role until a replacement was found who had the experience and temperament to take over seamlessly from her. In the next year, there would be more resignations, but Ms Teri took special care to ensure that whoever she brought on was in it for the long haul and up to the challenge. Her expertise and dedication have ensured that sense of cohesion endures between the families and staff. She seems to pick the right people for the job.
Case in point: Ms Sineidy who works alongside the director to keep PWA running with a smile on her face and an enviable pep in her step. She has always been responsive and supportive. In addition to her steady poise in the midst of such a busy environment with seemingly never ending responsibilities, she is one the sweetest people in the building who never fails to show empathy and support for the children and their demanding parents.
Not only does she help oversee the school's administration, Ms Sineidy is also the lead teacher for the VPK3 class. The good news is that means the children in that classroom are in very good hands (the various assistants who step in to help out are also fantastic). The only downside for the parents seems to be less frequent updates... but most of us will always want more no matter what, especially when we know how much fun and learning is happening in that classroom. It does seem to be a lot more intense than the three younger classes as well, so it stands to reason that the teachers have a lot more to contend with than keeping us abreast of every single thing happening in the course of the day. The student to teacher ratio also keeps growing, so we are curious to see how it will be for us next year. Unless we're forced to move out of the area, we don't have any plans to switch schools. We're more than happy at PWA.
Of course, nothing is perfect... The parking situation can be terrible at pickup times and during special events. But don't let that discourage you at all - it has never been a real problem for us.
No regrets for us. We and our children absolutely love it at Pines West Academy. The care, the community, and the joy our kids experience every day make it all more than worth it.
I can’t say anything but good things about this school! Ms. Teri, Ms. Sineidy, Ms. Flow, Ms. Masiel—every teacher and the entire program are exceptional!
I love the small classroom size… all the activities and learning experiences provided for the toddler 1 year group.
The personal attention for their age is ideal.
We like everything! Our son is enjoying his time in school. The most important thing to us is him feeling safe and enjoy going to school to learn!
Thank you all for everything!
I enjoy seeing son becoming more confident with a new lesson. He enjoy how the teacher reinsurance and cheer for him, when he believe he is able to do something. All the teacher and staff show they care for my son. He can be a bit timid around people sometimes, but they work with him to make it feel comfortable.
Accommodating and friendly teachers in my daughters new class. The communication has been fantastic with class transition. I see a significant improvement in my daughters behavior and knowledge. Ms Sneidy and Ms Teri are always very helpful and welcoming.
I love the curriculum, My daughter is learning exponentially and carries it outside of the school environment. The staff is caring and nurturing, even the teachers that do not work directly with my daughter know her name and greet her with such joy.
Pines West Academy is very family oriented. The teachers really care about the students. My children surprise me every day with something new that they learned at school.
